Staff vs Resident Beanbag Baseball Match

Staff vs Resident Beanbag Baseball match was great! Our residents dressed up in their favorite team's gear and were ready to play ball!

There was some heckling but lots of cheering and even a few unsynchronized crowd waves.

The staff ultimately took the competition and everyone had a great time.

The residents will be practicing every week on Wednesdays at 1:15 in the activity room and this time be ready for a rematch.

August 5-11 Wellness Events

Our first week of Wellness month is going great and there are so many more events to come.

Join us for a Hotdog Combo meal this Saturday August 10th for our Garage Sale. The City of Santa Clara is having a city-wide garage sale and make sure you stop by 1340 Pomeroy's front parking lot. We will be serving up Hotdog Combo meals for only $5 from 10:30 to 1:30. All those bargain hunters can refuel at Villa Serena with a hotdog, chips and cool lemonade! We will also have popcorn and some great deals on our items for sale!

We will also be selling $1 tickets for our Beach Retreat Raffle. This prize package is valued at $100 and includes, a Coppertone beach umbrella, 2 foldable beach chairs, 3 beach towels, 1 cooler, 2 beach mats, 2 Coppertone bottles of sunscreen, 2 margaritaville cups with straws, and 3 inflatable pool toys. All the money collected will be going towards completing our dog park project.

While your there don’t forget to sign up for our blood drive the following week as well!

We will be partnering with the American Red Cross and hosting a blood drive on August 16^th from 11:00- 4:00 in our Activity Room at Villa Serena.

Friday is our Staff vs Resident Beanbag Baseball Challenge at 1:35 in the activity room. The residents have a chance for redemption after our awesome staff beat them last time on Halloween. The residents have been training extra hard and we will see who is the victor this time. No matter who wins we are all ready to have some fun and play ball!

Also Friday is our Sports Dress up day. The residents are encouraged to wear their favorite Bay Area’s team gear or just sports gear!

August is Wellness Month at Villa Serena!

Our objective for Wellness Month is to offer our residents the 'Sunshine Wellness Experience,' which involves the opportunity for continued education and exposure to new wellness professionals, practices and healthy food options. We have many upcoming exercise challenges, wellness workshops and activities for everyone to enjoy and benefit from. With this Wellness Month we want all of our residents to

Get Informed, Get Fit, Get Restored and Give Back.

Every resident will receive a Wellness Calendar of special events/challenges (see below) and a passport checklist to track their participation. When our residents attend or complete these Wellness activities/challenges they receive a stamp on their Wellness Passport.

On August 29^th at 12:00, we will be hosting a Wellness Awards Ceremony to honor all of the residents who have participated in the special events and in turn made an effort to live a happier and healthier life!

Also, the residents who participate in 100% of the activities will be entered in a drawing to win $50!

Superhero Dress Up Day

It was a SUPER DAY at Villa Serena!

At 10:00 some residents joined us for our crafts class where we made superhero accessories. The residents helped make all the staff custom capes and others put the final touches on their own made up superhero costumes.
